After the recent success of EEE PC (Easy to Play; Easy to Learn; Easy to Work) sub-notebooks, ASUS has decided to expand their business with the introduction of a new platform of sub-desktop pcs. Or simply desktop HTPCs in a box. ASUS calls the new desktop pcs as Digital Home System EP20.

ASUS targets this new EEE Desktop version at the basic users who can utilize these pcs for home entertainment as well as casual web browsing. The Digital Home System EP20 has multimedia features like hi-fi stereo output with Dolby Live support. The great thing about this pc in a box is that is it is very silent. According to ASUS, this pc produces only 24dB of noise, very much less compared to regular desktop pcs. Intel Atom processors, the least powerhungry processors bring this coolness to this pc.
ASUS expects to deliver these desktop variant of EEE pcs as something comparable to Mac minis. Unlike Mac minis, there will be choice for operating systems. The basic version will run on Linux OS and higher end version works on Windows XP.
Although, nothing is clear about the hardware specifications, we believe this version of EEE PC will be running on smaller 2.5 inch HDDs instead of SSDs and should have at least two USB ports, 512MB RAM, Wi-fi capability, one HDMI port and one Ethernet port.
