Oh! Where is the light coming from? It is not that tiny. It is as big as a Tic Tac! Yet it does more than its size. Wondering what the bulb can do?

Silicon Valley based Luxim has worked on a plasma light bulb that pours out lumens with out consuming much power. The brightness is very much comparable to street lights.
The folks behind this invention are planning to find diversified markets for its consumption. May be, searching for something in attic should turn to be easier from now on.

As someone who sells light bulbs for a living, I find this advancement to be exciting. Currently, we sell quite a few compact fluorescent bulbs, but many of our customers have concerns about their mercury content. If this technology were to become scaled down to a size that could be utilized by the average consumer, it would be far more efficient (in terms of lumens per watt) than compact fluorescents, and presumably less toxic.
