Yamaha is famous for their expertise in producing simulated multi-channel surround sound using sound projectors. What happens if they launch the most affordable version? That’s has happened here by the launch of YSP-500 model sound projector.

A sound projector is an audio equipment with multiple drivers (speakers) that can “project” sound to various parts of the room and produce a simulated surround effect. The advantage of these products is that you don’t need to wire your room with multiple speakers to get surround sound.
The Yamaha YSP-500 sound projector is a compact sound projector with measurements of 610×120×220mm. It can deliver a maximum power of 62W. This sound projector uses sixteen 28mm loud speakers and two 8mm tweeters.
YSP-500 supports the following sound formats:
1. Dolby Digital
2. Dolby Pro-Logic
3. Dolby Pro-Logic II
4. DTS
5. DTS-Neo
6. AAC
7. PCM
The YSP-500’s price is under $799 and hence it would be easily affordable for all sound enthusiasts. Because of its smaller size, this equipment can be easily placed under your LCD / Plasma television sets.
Yamaha also offers higher end sound projectors under model numbers YSP-3000 and YSP-4000, which have more advanced features and power rating.
YSP-500 has been officially launched in Japan and we expect to see this in US market in couple of months.
